Hello guys I need advice i will try to explain this the best way i can. I have a football league that we are printing mesh jersey. i need to know if i should vinyl or screenprint the numbers. every team will have a differnt name and every kid will have a differnt number. I just wonder how vinyl will look on football jerseys. This is our first print or vinyl job on mesh any advice would greatly be appreciated. i need all the help i can get. thanks tonya
I would definitely do the vinyl. On your program, setup all the names and number, and cut it. Its as simple as separate and weed, then press them on. I personally would not even attempt to screen print on the mesh, way to much work.
the key is your setup in your cutting program. I would setup everything, bunched as close as possible for minimum waste, and make the least amount of cut runs as possible. For instance, cut all the numbers at once, then all the logos. Vinyl comes on rolls, take advantage of that.
Tonya,
How many jersey are you talking about. In my opinion if your talking bout more then 15 or 20 jerseys I would look at getting heat transfer numbers from a company like Transfers Express, they are cheaper and less time consuming then vinyl.
The Transfer Numbers are really nice - I just applied one to a Teamwork Poly Mesh football jersey and it looks great. The transfer number I applied was black background and white foreground and I had no issues with migration.
I think the cheapest way to go is to buy die cuts from a company like Stahls and cut your names to match. Their Thermofilm is nice for football because it is resistant to abrasion which can become a problem for on field jerseys with thinner films.

thank you for the info. I am ordering from teamwork to. That is a great idea. We are actually thinking of buying a digat transfer machine for this very reason. Any input on that.
Thanks tonya

Do you mean a heat press? I'm not familiar with the machine you reference???
I have tried the stahls goof proof numbers and works great on t-shirts but not so good on textured jerseys. They semm to become transparent and hard to peal off. these where the pre printed plastisol numbers from stahls..I have a lot of confidence in vinyl and never have had a problem on any material yet.
I may try the die cuts and see how they work.....good luck!
I have a plotter and i can cut my own names. We are looking at a new printer to print transfers for us. We could use it for numbers photos and so much more . I thought that is what you were talking about. I went back and read your post and i am just crazy. Sorry i will call stahls tomorrow.
Thanks tonya
