Why is there NO How Tos on making emulsion of any kind of silk screen
Ink????I have searched and searched the web and couldn't find anything.
I used to do graffiti as a youngin and make all kinds of ink and paint mixes
For marker so I know I would have no problem doing this if I just had some
Ingredients.I don't see any reason I can't find ONE thing..
Because it's a lot more complicated than marker paint/ink.
Photosensitive emulsion is photosensitive for a start. Really not suited to garage manufacture.
Ink needs to be washfast on textiles.
Also, tagging is an illegal activity that has historically attracted a small community of paranoid people with, ah, less than impressive intellects. That creates a heavy emphasis on DIY. That has changed in recent years, and along with it we've seen an explosion in available commercial products (and better artists). As soon as people didn't have to make it themselves, most chose not to.
Whereas screenprinting was long established as a legitimate avenue for commerce - there was no need for garage manufacture, because superior commercial products were already available at a good price. Rather than huffing dangerous ingredients (mmm, cancer) most printers would rather spend the money on something that only costs a negligible amount per print anyway.
ok maybe if you gave a **** about art you woulf think differently.
all i have to say is dont talk down on graffiti and talk about there
intelligence.the most amzing artist i have ever met was from that.
people i know could draw circles around you in there sleep.those are
some kool pluses brah.i went to an art institue for 2 years.you?dont disrespect other
peoples choice of medium.all i did was ask a question.WHICH IS THE POINT OF A FORUM.
so next time think if you were face to face with someone if you would
talk to them like this.come to florida.you can be schooled on some art skills, and respect.
And all I did was answer it with a full explanation, including context so you could understand it. Unfortunately, you clearly didn't.
Florida, eh? And maybe Australia can teach America about basketball, and Utah could teach Las Vegas how to gamble I'm fortunate enough to be living in one of the street art capitals of the world. I'm not going to come to Florida to be schooled in something I already know, understand, and love
Don't assume that just because I take a dim view of some of its practitioners, that I don't love the art and respect those who are actually good at it.
I would assume that the knowhow of making emulsion would be a company secret, and not to be divulged to any Miami based graffiti artist whose main ambition in life might be to debase some building with their so called art.
wow it really puts me down to think people like you guys are in the business
of making art and none of you are artist.you all need a good slap and maybe
should stick to peewee baseball shirts.if your not a creative person you should be doing nothing but assembling things on a factory line.theres nothing wrong with expressing youself on broken down buildings and public city property.well legally yes .but i would hate driving anywhere if there wasnt some art to look at on the way.and just like the t shirt business graffiti has a lot of people that might get up everywhere but have no style or anything worth looking at.well holla in 2 years and we can see who did anything worth mentioning with there life.
haha what does suggesting not to was ur time on making your own emulation have to do with "wow it really puts me down to think people like you guys are in the business
of making art and none of you are artist" haha
because i dont like disrespect.especially when via internet.considering
they would say anything with such an attitude if in my face.im a very nice person and i like to be treated the same.orrr i bust your face up a little.
anyways ya im just going to buy a kit of water based inks so i can mix up some colors.its hard nowadays to spend money on anything because the economy is so bad here.and now i get taxed so much it cost my 2 days of work just for my monthy amount of cigs.
Defacing other peoples property, run down or not is not art, it is a criminal offence no different to vandalism... although perhaps you think that destroying other people's property is "art" too, (by the way they are the same thing... painting someone else's property without their consent is not being creative).
Interesting you mention the "art" of graffitti then talk of how you dislike people disrespecting your "art" whilst at the same time disrespecting everyone else by the very act your trying to defend.
Anyway as others have said emulsion is relatively cheap considering the amounts you use, making it sensitive to uv in order to be able to "burn" the image is where you will most likely find it difficult to replacate without access to a suitable lab, but good luck.. maybe you will be the first!
(I am not against art, nor murals and the like, done with tact, respect and the owner of the properties permission)
i could give a crap less about puplic property.and abandoned buildings look better with my paint on them.and the reason i could give a crap about puplic property?i have been arrested twice for just walking somewhere in the middle of the night(loitering/prowling) both times having gotten in fights with the officers and ended up look like a got run over in my mug shot.my step father is a police officer so its not that.its just how my city is run.cops and political people do whatever they want.so i give a little back by putting a sticker on ever sign ,newspaper stands ect. i see.and paint every train and traintrack wall i have time to.and sometimes when im daring on the highway.my old high school has graffiti murals all around the school.you all are against disrespecting someones property yet you talk to me like im 3 feet tall.when in fact im 6'4.so if you have nothing good to say because you dont have personal experience then dont waste my time by me having to check my email.peeeeeeeeace.
As Seth said this information doesn't appear to be available. Since we're pretty much just throwing insults and arguments back and forth at this point I'll close the thread before one of us says something we later regret.
If anyone does have a how-to, please do go ahead and post it as a new thread. I'm sure there would be members who would appreciate it. Thanks.
