Default waterbased/discharge details

I have a design I am doing on a black shirt. It will be with discharge and waterbased inks. It has some halftones which will be black. I could try put detail in the discharge, but that will probably not hold enough detail. I could do a waterbased black layer over the discharge, but that may still loss detail. Or I could have a black layer of plastisol with soft-hand additive. I am going to experiment myself. But have little expierence with waterbased inks. Any help would be great!

If you are using a high enough mesh you should be able to hold all halftones. We use 230s or 305s for all our halftone work. If the shirt is black and there is black in the design, just let the shirt show through where needed.

With waterbase inks make sure you use a water resistant emulsion and on press keep the design flooded with lots of ink.

For discharge, I wouldn't go higher than a 156 mesh screen. That's the only drawback, extreme detail and discharge just doesn't go well.

Although you'd be surprised how much detail you can hold on a 156 with a good single point exposure system.

You can get as good detail out of discharge as you do any other water based ink... I'm not at work right now and don't have access to a bunch of resources, but I could post some pics or email you some pics and provide further details on it come Monday... Hit me up at [email address] and I can get back in touch on Monday.
