Default Can a heat press weaken a shirt?

I'm fairly new here, and fairly new to the heat press world. I did some chromablast pressing on shirts for some friends last weekend, and one of them just told me that there are tiny holes near the area I customized for her.

The shirt was not brand new (had been washed at least 2 - 3 times) and it is a tie-dye shirt (bought that way, not home-made). She says the holes are immediately beside the transfer I pressed for her.

My question is: could the press have caused this somehow, or is it more likely this was a faulty shirt? Has anyone else come across something like this? I pressed it at 400 degrees for 25 seconds since it was a Chromablast ... but I did this for about a dozen friends the same day at a dog show and only one of them (so far) has the problem.

Thanks.
