I use a IR thermometer to set mine( I have a Hix). I just made marks for the different temps after I figured out where they were. This is only bad in the begining. After you get them figured out they won't change. I think these press' are great. The fact they don't have any digital readout or temp control to burn out makes me happy. Good luck, I'm sure you will find this to be a much better press . ..... JB
