Actually, everyone doesn't say that at all. Vinyl is one form of heat transfer. Plastisol Transfers are another form of heat transfer.

It depends on the specific graphic and the number of t-shirts needed.
I would either outsource to a screen printer, get plastisol heat transfers made and apply them myself or use vinyl.
Every job is different. Some jobs vinyl may be best, some jobs plastisol may be best. Some jobs, outsourcing to a screen printer may be best.
