yep - a stand isn't a 'necessity' ..... but it sure is good to have when you're cutting long runs of anything - sign or shirt vinyl! my last "real job" my boss cheaped out and bought the plotter without the stand - and it's a total PITA. i have two here on stands and wouldn't have it any other way - it was worth the few extra bucks!!
