What type of file is it? if it is a vector file you click on the object, then go to the top on arrange and ungroup. that should seperate your file into pieces so you can now select each section. If it is not a vector file, you can convert it to bitmap and then do the trace on it, this will recreate it into a vector file that you can then edit.
