Default Re: is it a heat press technique???

Definitely sounds like dye sublimation - it gives soft ("no hand") permanent and breathable print.
This kind of printing is commonly used for all sorts of sporting applications like netball, cycling, tennis and so on.

Some polyester shirts you can get for this kind of printing are suitable for both casual wear and active lifestyle because they have less "sporty" cut, feel and look like cotton, but also wick moisture.

As Roger pointed out, you will be limited to light and pastel colours because the design is dyed into the fabric and there are no dyes (so far) that will colour dark background into a lighter colour.

Good luck!
