The TuffCut is a heavier film for heavier wear/abuse, so if you do too many colors the shirt will get heavy. Joto does have the MultiCut, which looks like a regular vinyl similar to therma or spectra.

I've used white ThermoFlex vinyl on a bright orange shirt and didn't have any problems. I haven't used it on top of other vinyl, but I've heard/seen some examples that didn't look like they had any issues.
