I have a press from sss also. But I didn't buy their starter kit. It is hard at first, but once you calculate all of your times and you experiment, it becomes very easy. Are you thinking of quitting? There is nothing "wrong" with the press, if you are having trouble, I think you need to be patient and experiment. I was lucky to get the correct exposure times on my second try.
