We attended the home and gift show in atlanta. Booth cost was about $2800 I think... We got just enough orders/purchases to cover our booth, but we learned A LOT!! It was ABSOLUTELY worth it for the education we got speaking with other vendors, retailers and suppliers. We're supposed to go back in January. We're taking all the feedback we got and are using it to develop our line for January. I feel like I have too much to do and not enough time to do it.

I guess it depends on what you feel makes it worth it. I heard that you should attend first and look around and check it out so that you are prepared and know what you're getting into. I didn't get the grilling from retailers that I expected as far as where our line is selling, etc. etc. I don't know why, but it was actually pretty easy. I would have liked more sales, but it was a good start.

If you are tight on cash, it might not be the best place to go. We went bc ours is local, too. I could not afford to travel to Dallas, NYC, LA right now... Atlanta was right down the road and is thankfully a big market. It was slow, but it was good for us...

I'm no expert as I haven't attended the big ones just yet nor is my line in any condition to consider it. But, if you're going to spend a large amount on registering and then your marketing strategy then imo, it makes sense that you have put enough in to build your brand to where you have made a good number of sales, have model shots and brochures made up and are ready to start thinking about expanding your manufacturing to handle retail.

Local shows and attending as a guest first are key before going before the big boys I'd wager.
