Call me crazy, But I think detail design in Urban casual apprarel is going to be a growing trend. i.e. small designs, labeling, unique lining, coloring features that haven't normally been colored etc.

also, call me crazy, but energy sun panel t-shirts will be here before you know it.
There is a local shop in my town called Del Sol and is selling some sun activated stuff in their shop. Some of it is hideous, some of it is actually pretty cool how they used the UV sensitive ink to enhance designs. Like this one...

Really? Wow! It's new here. Do you know if there is a way to get these sun sensitive inks?

I definitely agree. There's a trend towards buying less and spending more, with the emphasis being on quality pieces. At the moment that's a niche trend, but I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes more common.

I also think brands like Cardboard Robot and other indie-gone-corporate brands make their way into big chain stores like Pac-Sun and Hot Topic.

Really feel shirts like this are going to take off in the next couple of years.

Designers who successfully use the elements of 2D graphic design (shirts as canvas, unusual typefaces and interesting graphics) are going to make a serious dent in the biz.

Wearable art is going to be what's good.

hummm, here is that shirt again, thanks Jeff.

footnote:
let me remind everyone that the whole "the T-Shirt is MY canvas" ting originated in the 80's along with the marketing machines new ad-space venue...printed T-Shirts.

That's the thing with fashion: Everything works in cycles... Wait around long enough and "it" will come back into fashion, reinterpreted for the time, of course.

Bell bottoms, pixelated typefaces, Transformers just to name a few of original ideas that have come around full circle.

Newbie here. These are obviously not done with regular 8 x 10 heat transfers. What's the medium this is done in?

Most likely screen printing with a belt printer.

I was just wondering if anyone had anything new to add to this tread since it was started in 2006 and i've seen all these shirts styles happen and it just seems like there getting old; not fresh anymore. Now that its almost going to be 2009 what new trends or techniques do you think we'll be seeing.
