Is there an approach to take to target large brick and mortar customers or is it better to target small local shops for displays to start?

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question or not but here goes...

I have a nice line of shirts with professional designs covering a handful of themes and am not sure what to do with them. We have a shop on CafePress and it has realized moderate success in the short time it has been up.

Is there an approach to take to target large brick and mortar customers or is it better to target small local shops for displays to start?

We have a State Fair on our radar too that we think we will see a lot of our target market.

Any input is much appreciated.

Target them all is my thinking.

Putting together a well planned, effective cold calling procedure will pay off again and again. If you reseach Marketing and cold calling on the forum, you will return many a wonderful thread on this topic.

Hi Brian. If the shops you want to target are selling similar lines, tell them your range will complement their existing stock. If they are selling something radically different, tell them your range will extend their range of products.

It's all about getting your product onto the market.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the input.

I definitely want to target everyone but as always budget dictates that course more than anything.

Hi Brian, just to give you some more "direction", there are some great tips on how to approach retail stores and how to deal with retailers here:
