When I did the middle school spiritwear, we decided to mark everything up $2, so t-shirts were $12 and I got $10 and the school got $2 for every one sold. When I do events, I do 20%.

Chuy:

Yes ...25% of total sale! You have to make this reasonable for the organization to make $$. Other fund raisers out there can raise 30% to 40% .....however they are usually not such an easy sell for your potential client!!
Profit is still attainable for you though as well.....

Example..You sell 1 gray lg tshirt w/graphic on front........say you price this at $14.00.
(for school apparel, team apparel...this is actually reasonable in most areas)

Cost may vary depending on supplier, and your choice of materials....$3.00 to $4.00.

25% of $14.00 =$3.50

Your net profit on this shirt = $6.50!
( t-shirts, Hoodies, Tanks, Sweat pants, ....you could even get into sub dye items if available!! More items....more possible sales!!)

Now what typically happens over an over is the following scenarios:

IF you slip in a promo flyer with the shirt...the buyer can buy OTHER graphic apparel from you....especially if you have a web site...or location they can view your items!!

Word of mouth: Kids from schools will buy MOM a shirt, ( that you have designed specially for parents of a team sport, school, etc) AND....MOM or DAD....may be interested in you working up some apparel for their company, little league for their other son or daughter....etc...etc...etc.

My point is....it opens many many doors to you well after the initial sale......if you set up too!!

Again...do it for 1 club, team, and others within the school, ( another club, team), will hear about it and want your services...

If YOU build it.....THEY will come....

This program is a wonderful marketing plan.....it's truely great for the school.....its great for your business! It's a great starter for someone trying to get off the ground, and develope a consistant income!!

BEWARE:....Be ready to get busy!! Make sure your prepared.....you will need a reasonable stock of what you are offering.

we have done this for churches here in town..
We had a local church that was having their 120th anniversary..
but not only did we offer t-shirts.. we did aprons, mouse pads, coffee mugs, and plates.
we have done quite well and the churches themselfs made quite a bit..
they would set up a table after their service with the stuff on it.. and take orders..
we would then make up the items.
and the people would get them the next sunday.. worked great..

You are too funny! Great idea though! We were also thinking of proposing "Senior Shirts" with the year and all of the senior signatures.... that would have been great for MY senior class, all of 86 students.... but at this HS, there were more than 400 seniors that graduated last year! and that does not include the alternitive school! Why oh why did I leave the small town? Oh, yeah, to make money! LoL! --Amber
