Agreed! Many EZup style tents are 'water-resistant' not 'water-proof' ... also, depending on the roof style, tend to 'pool up' with water. If you insert hoola hoops strategically in the roof frame, you can help prevent this.
We use a King Canopy style tent. Regardless of the weather predictions, whether one day or five, we start with ratcheting down all corners.
whoah now, you gotta explain the whole hoola hoop thing!
what a terrific idea...we are doing our first show in September and we tried out the ezy set up ten...and you guessed it...it was not water proof...I didn't even think to check...great huh. I like the hola hoop idea....anyone have any ideas to water proof...my hubby just wants to purchase a new water proof tent.

apply the same water seal to the tent as you would to your deck or driveway. there's spray or liquid that you can brush on. we used to put it on our camping tent and it helped significantly...i'm not sure, however, if it will affect the colour of your tent. just a thought.
we will be doing our first outside show next month. Thanks to the posts here, this past weekend we set up our display in the backyard. Used so many ideas from this forum...and wanted to say thank you. We know the venue is good for us...it is a 2 day show.
we are doing our first show this weekend. thanks to all the advice on this forum I think we are ready. So far looks like the weather is not going to be good...but we have a canopy with sides and tie downs..wieghted of course..and tarps to cover the shirts and hats. It is a duck, gunning and decoy show which is right up our alley...then why am I so nervouse? any other ideas would be welcome...
it's just the first time nervsies,. is all..i think we all get 'em. in fact, i'm participating in the clothing show in toronto this weekend and am also a little nervous, but prepared--which is key. this will be my largest event as a participant yet.
without the forums, i don't think i'd be doing as well as i have been at trade shows/fairs this year. if anyone out there will be at tcs this weekend come by and say hi!
good luck sundancerde...give us a report on how it all goes when you have some time...
Just thought I let you know how our first show went. It was not a good weather weekend here in New Jersey. We were prepared thanks to this forum. We did sell a fair amount of shirts plus did some net working. It was not fun packing up in a down pour. Also, the space was too small for the amount of merchandise we wanted to display. I was not there for the initial setup...and I kept thinking why is this not right? And it dawned on me...my hubby deviated from the setup we had practiced..not a good idea. lol I remembered reading here...don't deviate from your plan..and you guys are right. Thanks again for sharing your expertise.
Elaine,

the holiday season is around the corner.

that's how i learned that lesson too...
rain sucks, but there's not much you can do about it, unfortunately. hopefully, you now see what you can do to improve your next event. i learn something new about participating at these types of events every time i do one.
