Does anyone here sell at county fairs, special events, community days, etc? We were thinking of maybe getting in on the county fair with some pro world designs (stock designs). Its a good way to get our name out there for custom stuff, but also to make some money. If anyone here does this kind of selling.... what kinds of stock designs sell well? What problems do you come across while doing this kind of selling? Any help is appreciated. Our county fair gives us an indoor selling space for $80.00 for the week. We were thinking of doing it, but might wait until next year when we are more established (and i take that week off work from my full time job). Thanks!
I too would love to find out more...good questions! I think that there would most likely be a niche there if you brought designs to fit in with the fair...in outlaying areas, more farmery kind of stuff, and closer to cities you can probably expand...just some thoughts.
Thanks for replying. We found that the designs from Pro World do not print all that well with our press. Is there a special kind of press to use for these? I know when I am at the fairs, people have the heat presses with the cloth on the platen. Is this a certain kind of press?? Thanks

We print pro world and many others with no problem. I have a 16x20 standard heat press. Time and temperature are critical with any transfer material.
I use transfers from pro world in my store and at events at events make sure that the prints fit the event theam. I also have a cap pess with and use 5 panel caps. I also have if the event will let me have transfers for the event and always have them $1 or $2 dollars cheaper it brings people to my booth. On the average I do about 125 shirt per day remember the days do get long most start at 8am and go to 11pm.
It is also a great way to get customers for custom work. I'm thinking to have my son go with and add sublimation to the list.

Do you mean you discount for people who want stuff pressed at the site as opposed to buying the shirt with the trnasfer alreadyon it? No kidding would that be a great way for people to see your ability to customize!!
I use the transfers from Pro-World as well. Can you post a pic of your press and a transfer you cant print with it?
Hey,
I use a Hix 15x15 press and have not had problems with Pro-World transfers. What kind of press are you using? What exactly are the problems you're having? What time/temp.pressure are you using?

That is right and that way there is no left overs that are laying around.
I honestly cant tell you the type/manufacturer of press it is. I got it on ebay. But it has worked well for us minus the pro world designs. My uncle passed away and had a heat press (Hix 400D). We bought it from my aunt for $100.00 and it might have been used once or twice. Maybe we might have to fire that up and give it a shot. Dont know the pressure we are printing with the one we have now either. Its just a tightening wheel that doesnt have a guage or anything telling me what the pressure is. I know this doesnt sound like much to go on, but its all i got.
If I cant get it to work, I have 70+ firefighting designs I need to unload cheap.

Hmmm, I'm no expert, for sure, but I would think if you are pressing the transfer at the correct time, and if you turn your pressure wheel enough so it's not easy to close it shuold work. I know there's no info on the pressure knob, and it's just a lot of guesswork. I have it set mostly to squash just about whatever I'm putting in there. Try the Hix and see what happens. Frustrating....
