Hello Forum,
well we finally had an apparel decorater show in the midsouth, memphis, tennessee to be exact. the show was exciting and very informative. the presentator was very knowledgable and fun. we really learn a lot of things as far as software, equipment, processes, and the industry as a whole. there were only three reps there. megan from transfer express, russ, who said he rep everybody, and mel, they were all excellent. the most exciting part of the show was when they demonstrated a vinyl that look exactly like screen printing. we where told it was new and stahls id would be carrying it, but it wasn't available until march. well i found out the material is already on the market through imprintables. that irritated me because people wanted to buy on the spot but imprintables although was also rep was not mentioned as already having the material. it mainly directed toward stahls id direct for this particular material. my problem lies here, if u r representing several companies and they all carry some of the same product be fair about it. from my understanding imprintables has it and it will be cheaper than stahls when they launch it. the product is called fashion film at stahls and spectra eco film at imprintables where it is already available. i don't know what the deal was or is with that misrepresentation but it wasn't fair to the members or companies at the seminar to be put off like that.
business is business and the industry is the industry. just be fair we'' all in this together.
Other than the misrepresentation you're saying the seminar was worth going to? I just got a mailer about it the other day, but the closet location is about 2 hours away. Just wondering if it would be worth it.
I also attended this seminar. Drove 2 1/2 hours each direction, and attended both days - total driving was 10 hours....and it was DEFINITELY worth it!
As to the misrepresentation. I would have to add that there was not a representative from Imprintables there. The guy from Stahl's (Russ) was stating that the Fashion Film (which is what it will be called at Stahl's) will not be available until March. His statement was a statement of fact regarding the product and Stahl's. I noticed several times that his statements were directly related to Stahl's products, not Imprintables. As the seminar was sponsored by the Stahl's, Imprintables, and Transfer Express, I am sure that Imprintables had the same opportunity to have a representative there that Stahl's and Transfer Express did. You cannot expect one company to directly promote a product available at another company when they intend to be carrying the same product in the near future.
Other than this issue (which I agree with what the original poster stated), this was a VERY informative seminar. If you are a newbie - I would recommend it whole-heartedly. If you are already in business, and have equipment, I would still go because there is every possibility that you will see new possibilities that could add additional avenues to your existing business! AND- it's FREE!
Don't go expecting this to be like a trade show, where you can get big discounts by purchasing at the show. You won't be getting this. What you will get is a good feeling for what your competition is doing, OR what they COULD be doing in the future...........

Josh actually made a shirt for me last August In Long beach At the NBM show using the eco film... They should have been upfront. But you know who was running the show. It surprises me that imprintable was not there as they are a sponsor as well and have been at other shows.

I bought my Phoenix Heat press at a Great Garment seminar and got a reasonable deal on it. It was one they were demonstrating with. And I saved shipping cost because they let me take it with me. As for the Eco film, I have been using it for 6 months and I love it. It is very easy to cut, weed, and apply.

the answer to your ? is yes it is definitely worth the drive. i met people that had driven 800 miles, some 500. i don't know how long that takes but to me that's a long ride. i have been using heat transfers for about 15 years and even though i still learned something. with the cad cut i knew very little and learn a whole lot.
i really encourage u all to go it's free.
from my understanding when russ was asked who he reped he said everybody. and if my memory serves me well, he had imprintables logo an his shirt. so therefore there was true misrepresentation.
When I went, I definitely understood that Stahls was running the show. Everything fell under their umbrella. At that time it seemed divided between: Stahls-heatpresses, TransferExpress-Transfers, Imprintables-Cutters, etc. Of coures they all had some overlapping items. The guy who was repping, was not familiar with Imprintables, as they had just brought them on.

hello forum,
i just recieved a pm from russ from the semimar and he explained the misunderstanding about the representation of the eco film. i really don't want to bore u with the details. but his justification was viable. and also with so much going on at the time of when the question was asked and there was a lot going on being that it was the highlight of the seminar, i see were he would misunderstand what was asked of him. i actually called him after the pm and we talked a few minutes. this guy is terrific and has great knowledge and passion for what he does. i hope they come back to memphis real soon. honestly, i have really learned a lot from that one semimar alone. example: i own my cutter for twodays before attending and i didntknow anything. after the seminar i went home and applied a lot of what i learned and made $600.00 in three days making t shirts. and i am still getting orders for that particular shirt.
i said that to say this, the seminar over all is an excellent asset to the t shirt printing industry, especially for begginers. it was all a misunderstanding which has truly been rectified by ross.
