Re: Accepting credit cards through your cell phone You can always call in card transactions for approval. There are some considerations:
First you pay the higher "card not present" rate because the mag strip was not swiped.
Second, you only get an approval, you do not actually run the sale through. You have to enter the sale and do a "manual batch" from your in-store terminal or your online virtual terminal. The phone call tells you the sale is OK, but does not do any more.
If you are on "auto batch" with some processors, they will pick it up, others will not.
The phone swiper or other wireless devices do process the cards as normal. Of course, you will still have to batch as normal to close the day.
There are also devices that will store the sales and then process them when you get to a landline.
Variuos options. The phone call for approval is fine, but don't forget to actually key in the sales at the end of the day.
