Cool Bobbie! Yesterday, she said she got to meet a whole string of folks, and drop off the shirts for Rodney's booth. She met Rodney (yes, he really is shy) before he had to fly back out, Charles and his wife, and checked out the WOW laser paper heat transfers for both light and dark shirts, talked to Cathy at Dakota, Mike Fresener (sports a longer ponytail than I do ) and the crew at US SCREEN (by the way, Scott is now clean shaven) ... and several of the very trendy t-shirts that have come out, like Kavio. Lot's more bamboo choices out with varying degrees of bamboo/cotton/spandex blends. And got to see the infamous Kornit, in action (she let out a gasp, as she told me of the encounter). And stopped by to chat with the gang at Digital Art Solutions. That is just the highlights of Friday!

Sunday, she gave Lou (the man has done it ALL, more stories than you can shake a stick at) a break, and held down the fort with the Impressions gang (having to learn the proper speech for folks who stopped by). Got to meet Bobbie and her daughter, Mistysue (did ya get the tee?) and a bunch more (a thousand apologies for missing names and conversations ... relying on memory of her phone calls to me). She got to check out the Blazer Pro, and while didn't mention the speed of the print (LOL, I think we are used to slower output with the T-Jet 3 compared to the HM-1), she was impressed with the side-loading of shirts while the machine is printed others and the near ability to print ALL across the shirt (seams are the tricky part). She got a real kick out of the new Fast Pre-treatment machine with the press (bringing me back a sample to see for myself). And checked out the gang at Monkey Boy Graphics, who offered a sweet deal with their art packages for show attendees. And that is just the highlights for Saturday.

Debz finally got out of there, so she and my stepmonster could spend the rest of evening at the Star Trek convention.

I agree, there is AN ENORMOUS amount to see, so I am glad Debz has another day to check more stuff out (and meet more t-shirt forum pals). I am also a bit disappointed ... I wanted to see more stuff regarding DTG and Dye Sub advancements, and more digital artwork for us printers (it's getting to the point, where I will have to start my own art house). Obviously, the show is targeted for garment makers, which really had the most advances with new fashionable tees, more cuts and color options, and more green fabrics (lot's of samples, thank you!). Of all the so-called rumors of new inks (for DTGers) and the like, that might be at the show ... I have yet to see anything really special, beyond the cool, new fabrics ... but, then, there is always tomorrow!

Well, it's after 9pm, and I wanna get a whiskey behind me, before it gets too late (need to be coherent for football playoffs, tomorrow).

Many thanks to everyone at the show, so far ... Debz had not a single complaint about anyone. She did say she purposely avoided one booth ... I guess, she is still upset with them for never returning her e-mail (after 4 months), LOL.

I also went and signed the shirt but no rodney. This was my first time and i loved it. there was so many vendors and so much stuff to look at. and i will be taking a backpak next time, Those bags get heavy! after awhile. one of the nest things that i liked the most because im new to the indutry and dont have to many accounts set up is that everybody had there catolags with PRICELIST! which i liked because i did not have to go through the process os setting up an account with someone just to see the pricelist and find i dont like the prices so that was cool i can now look through all the books and prices and figure out which companys to chose from. so overall i was very pleased and cant wait for the next one.

I feel like everyone went to a great rock concert, while I stayed home and watch Donnie and Marie Osmond.

Lou, did you wear the right shoes this time?

We did all 3 days of the show...meet with Josh from Imprintables on sunday. After talking to Josh and Eric(JPD) of JPDTee's about the Roland versacamm VP540.....we bought one.Eric said he was jealous cause he owns the 30" model...we felt the 54" would suit us better as we are expanding into the sign market as well. It's monday and I've already contracted doing high res images on canvas for our local photographer. And have contracted with a local golf cart customizer to do all his wraps....so it's already paying off and the machine isnt even here....LOL
As always had a great time at the show...and thanks to the HappyFeet booth my feet arent killing me today...I wish we would have had time to meet more members but it just wasnt in the cards. We do most of our annual puchasing at this show so it doesnt allow much time to chat.
Well now I got to unload the Excursion of the catalogs and EZ squeeges we bought and get everything ready for the big Roland.

Hey Everyone,
So, I joined the t-shirt forums on Saturday and went to my first ISS show on Sunday. WOW! I was awed as I explored the depth of the industry that I've only been in for 1 year. As I mentioned in my introductory post, I've been using local screen printers thus far and haven't been thrilled with the results. The work is too inconsistent.

But going to the ISS show was so empowering because I realized that I can take the fate of my product into my own hands rather than relying on others to produce work with the same passion I have for my own line of tees. My husband and I have decided to invest in a Geo Knight heat press and purchase plastisol transfers. I know that, as my business continues to grow, I can explore the options of dtg printing too. I'm so excited.

It was also great to touch and feel the products of t-shirt manufacturers whose products I've only seen on-line. Alternative will always be my first pick. We primarily use their product. But I also love Next Level and Bella.

I hope everyone else enjoyed the show!

LOL, my wife loved the show ... but is having a tough time getting home. She is stuck in Salt Lake, her plane turned back for mechanical problems ... have no idea when she will get a plane (could have driven back, by now).

Kira ... it still baffles me that screen printers could put out bad or inconsistant products. We have had clients come in with a shirt that was previous done by a screen printer, and needed a like design done by us with DTG. Seeing underbase peeking or improper screen mesh showing up in the print ... I guess there are good printers and bad printers, regardless of method.

Our issue with screen printers is returning our product with crooked artwork and logo. Most recently, our tank tops were returned to us with the phrase positioned far too low.

I hope your wife gets home soon... and safelfy!phrases

We got proofs for our initial run. But these are just re-prints of the same artwork. The problem is, some screen printing businesses are so big, with a constant flow of big jobs. These big companies end up hiring a huge staff; some of whom could care less about the final product and how it effects small companies like mine.

Bottom line is... I'm taking matters into my own hands and printing my own tees. This is my 3rd screen printer in Los Angeles. I'm done. quote=Gunslinger;220993]Did they do a proof for you, Kira?[/quote]

I guess this means one more night of T-jet, drugs (liquor) and rock'n'roll!

Gawd, Kira ... I would want to do the same. But, before dropping any cash, hang out here and ask for screen printer/other printer references ... I know there are good ones in the L.A. area.

I like the websites/blog, Kira ... nicely done.

I think with the except of discharge prints, DTG/Dye Sub might be better for your style of tees, for a softer hand.

ROFLMAO ... don't I wish!

It's wayyy dark now, and no phone call for about two hours now ... have no clue what's going on. She couldn't stay and get a motel, because everyone's luggage had been checked in. She arranged this extra day, so she could fly back during the daylight hours. She could've saved some dough, and arrived last night, before the snow hit this morning.

Bad enough, when they pulled smoking on planes. I am sticking to driving to any of these future gigs. Airplanes are for the birds!
