Discuss the process of getting your t-shirt line into brick and mortar stores and selling offline. Topics include industry tradeshows, events, line sheets, sales reps and other retailing tips and advice.
I have seen recently on some websites that some designers have a section where store buyers can log on to view what I guess would be their current line sheet. So instead of sending out actual booklets, they save on postage and printing them. How do u think buyers feel about this approach?
thanks
It depends upon the person, of course, but I prefer everything to be online. If I want a hardcopy, I'll print one. I think more and more people are becoming that way, too.
I like the online linesheet idea, I'm going for it and cutting out my actual linesheets sent out.
BUT how does one go about getting their PO's done the best way if the lookbooks are online?
I could rather...
-make my cold call to the boutique with my pitch, tell of about my e-site linesheet and send them a letter with my biz card and actual PO form which. I would then call them a week later seeing if they recieved my letter and if they had made their PO.
OR
-make my cold call to the boutique with my pitch, tell of about my e-site linesheet and let them know they can do the PO online within the buyers log in section, therefore cutting out wasted time. I would then call them a week later seeing if they recieved my letter and if they had made their PO.
can you tell me some of those sites you have seen with the online linesheet, and PO so I can take a look.
I'd be slightly hesitant in not sending a "hard copy" to them. I think telling them to just look online may be easier to disregard the whole thing completly. I'd send a hard copy, and tell them it is also online. thay way they have a physical item to use as a referance.
Although i think have a PO form online is a good idea, that way they dont have to mail or fax anything. The easier it is for them, the better the outcome for you.
At least that's my opinnion.

Well, the sites that I have seen that have a special log in page for buyers, I obviously dont have access to those buyers only sections, but there are designers here and there that offer this from what I've seen.

I think giving the customer the hard copy is a good idea because you will not be so easily forgotten, but also having an online sheet is a good idea as a bonus
