| Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. Ok.. I thought i would start a new post for myself and some of the others to post some of the items of interest or vendors we spoke with at the show that had fun and interesting things to show us..
I know from what was said by others this show was not a big as some of the others.. but there was some things i had not seen and some interesting things shown..
Now im in the sign business, plus do shirts, and promo items so alot of the booths had items of interest to me..
One of the most interesting things i saw was the roland engraver making patterns for rhinestone shirts.. I have an older engraver made by a differant company but im gonna see if i can do this on mine.. What this did was you would type what you wanted your design to say or put the graphic into the machine.. and it would engrave little holes on the romar engraving plastic just the size of the stones you are gonna apply, you would then put a few stones in a pile on top shake it and they settle in the holes with the shiney side down.. then you apply your tape.. and ta da .. you design is ready to press... for some reason this really impressed me.. even tho ive never done anything with stones on shirts..

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. I also got some samples of plastisol transfers from ace transfer company fand from transfernumbers.com.. Both booths were so helpful and informative to talk to .. it was nice..
The vapor apparel booth had a couple guys in it who were very imformative, helpful and talkative.. I got to see more of their product than i had seen before.. and I bought a really cool collection of t-shirt graphics from them that had 125 + differant t-shirt designs.. what was cool was these are modern and trendy.. and quite sellable.. so im looking forward to makding some samples of them up this week.

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. The show was OK and probably great for people that do signs as well as apparel. I would not recommend it for people that are only in the garment decorator business though. It had little to offer compared to the ISS. Now that is a show i would tell you too attend. My objective on this trip was a little different then most of you so I got out of it what I wanted. I look forward to the ISS show though.. Then maybe we will see more of each other... Rodney I think you should have a booth.. Your sponsor could pay for it as it is advertising for them as well... Think about it.. And I am not joking... The forum represents over 18000 members world wide and it offers so much. I bet your sponsors would gladly pay a fare share. I would gladly asst you . | |

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. Lou.. I agree with ya.. on all topics you stated.. It was good for me.. because of the sign stuff.. I got some great info on many things, but i could see where there may not have been enuff for people just doing.. garments.. .. I also think rodney should get a booth.. I have to say.. That Rodney is a inspiration.. I really enjoyed having the time to get to know him a bit more outside of the *web*.. and would do fantastic with a booth.. | |

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. I found the show useful...and I bought a couple items..Roland GX24 and an Epson 1400 w/ bulk system of artanium inks.. I think I got a good deal..if I didn't...don't tell me It is too late to cry!
Like Susan I found the Roland engraver a fascinating piece of equipment. I was salivating for it after watching..thinking of the custom rhinestone designs one can do. what the Roland guy..very nice, friendly and informative ...did not inform you about was that the engraver for $4995 is not your only choice. They have one that is 2995 that will do the same but just on nothing larger than 12 x9 I think and also does not have a cover over it...for 2 grand I would opt for the 2995..
Now for my tale of woe. I really wanted to meet up with some from the forum. I got to Long Beach after one on Friday..so I bummed around..looked enjoyed and then trotted over to Jakes...only to find it closed!..later learned it was something about a health code issue. Not to worry I said...I will just meet up at 5 on saturday...that was not to be...The cutter I bought was a demo..and there was a hectic time in getting the vendors packing boxes back to them so I would have the box AND software..fussed and fummed and did get the unit out the door until 5:45. Then I had an associate guard the box at the taxi stand in front..got the car, hopped out loaded the truck..accidently hit the lock button on the door and locked it with the keys in the ignition...fussed and fumed.. hit the panic button..was about to call AAA when I remember my car..Linc town car..has buttons on the door...finally remembered the correct code after racking my brain for 5 min. with taxi drivers getting irate...so at 6 decided to go to yard house anyway..but gave up trying to find parking so...just crawled off the the hotel to lick my wounds with a bottle of good wine!
Had good time anyway and hope I can get my hands and mind around operating the cutter...watch out for lots of questions.

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. We were there on Saturday and ran into Rodney at the Vapor booth. Sorry we had to miss dinner but we had too much on our plate this weekend. We'll definitely have to catch up at the ISS in Jan!
Some thoughts --
Yes, the show is much, much smaller than the ISS. I wasn't really surprised. There was considerable overlap in what was being shown except that at this one there was one or maybe two companies in each category where at the ISS there are several. I don't see this as a bad thing. I was completely overwhelmed at the ISS. It was my first show and I was new to the industry. I didn't know what to look at or who to talk to! At this one, I was able to talk to the reps more. There wasn't a huge crowd and nobody was in a hurry. It was nice!
Why on earth would Rodney need a booth? Am I missing something?
The Convention Center needs to hire better people to manage the registration. Those guys were YELLING at us to go inside to register. Every single person I saw was looking around bewildered with their confirmation form in their hand.
[RANT]They had *already* registered doofus. They just needed to check in so that the machine could print their badges. That's ALL YOU HAD TO SAY! [/RANT.
In case you don't have an engraver, I just posted my experiences with rhinestone transfers on the heat press forum.

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. I sent a few people to this forum while at the show, one of them being a Flexi-Jet user like me. Although there is a lot of info on here, you would be surprised how many folks just don't know it's here.
A booth would be great and that way we don't have to always wonder if we will run into Lou. You can have him man the booth at certain hours, that way we know where he will be!!

| Re: Long beach show.. after thoughts and samples.. I had a great time at the show and found alot of useful info, will definately be at ISS in jan. too. It was really great to meet Rodney and Sue, I also finally was able to place my order for my HM1 and got a really great deal at the show so I was able to accomplish what I went for.
Hey a booth is a great idea Rodney. and the dunk tank too, than we could put Lou in there and everyone would know where he was at
Hey Lou, remember before the show you were referring to your shirt comparing it to wheres waldo or something? It really was that hard to find you hehe, seems no one ever did
