So, one of my online retailers was approached by a retailer in Hong Kong asking about wholesale prices for my stuff, so I have a few questions:
1. I have never really dealt with an international retailer before, and I know that in some areas acceptable t-shirt prices are way higher - for instance, when I lived in Japan, a 30 or 40 dollar t-shirt was not that big of a deal. The question here is, should I charge a slightly higher wholesale price outside of the United States?Or, should I just be happy to make whatever money I normally make, because they're going to be paying a bunch for shipping anyway, and the main thing is to get exposure and get out there.
2. Is asking for half of the money up front and the remainder, say, Net 30 typically done? I think I remember reading that somewhere.
3. Also, since this deal was presented to my retailer and he's mediating the whole thing, he'd like a cut of the profit, which is perfectly fine by me. Does a sales rep typically get 10%? If that's the case, I was thinking 8%, since he didn't actively seek this account, but I think knocking off that extra 2% might be a bit stingy (and if this order is only like $500 or something then that's $10), so maybe just give him a solid %10.
Thanks in advance!

I think this sounds like a good way to go.
I don't know about the legalities of it, but I think there might be some rules about charging different wholesale pricing to different customers.

I haven't heard of the net30 on the end, but half down and half on delivery I've heard of.
You really get to set (and negotiate) your own terms. When I sell wholesale, I ask for payment up front. Granted, I haven't done much wholesaling (yet), but I would probably set my terms so that it's easy for me to get paid and negotiate from there depending on the size of the retailer and my gut. Collecting money from non-paying customers is a big pain.
sounds good. the retailer I'm working with actually suggested getting all the payment up front, so I may just go for that.
do you think 10% of the sale is a good cut for him? too much? too little? I don't think this is gonna be more than, say, a $500 order from the sound of this guy, so $50 isn't gonna really hurt me.
