So, general 411: looking to buy printed designs wholesale to resell in my country
Hey there, I'm looking into selling shirts over (purchase from places like threadless.com maybe) and selling them here. Here is in the Caribbean. Because of where I am, I am looking for stuff under $10 if that even exists on the internet. The $10-$15 range is as far as I'd want to go initially since anything more and customs would KILL me. I'm a student, looking into doing something part-time, so I can't order 1000 shirts or anything like that, so what's considered "bulk"? Also, I'm more looking for novelty shirts, again, along the lines of threadless.com, bustedtees.com etc. though that's all I know, I'm looking for more stuff as well. Thanks, and let the noob bashing begin!
Hey dude I dont know if you are doing transfers but that is the way to go in my opinion if you want to spend a little and make a decent profit. That is what I do in my airbrush shop. I have about 75 transfer designs related to tourist type stuff and I sell a ton of them. I use a good quality tee and just make them to order. A transfer and tee wholesale cost about $3 and my average transfer shirts are about $10-12 bucks. Hope this helps. Good luck. p.s. Have you tried Pro World. They have some good stuff.
I just started looking into threadless seriously yesterday and thought it would be interesting to bring some nice shirts since everything here is the same and I hate to not be original, seeing someone with the same shirt as me makes me cringe.
I don't really know about this transfer thing, can you tell me more about it? the scenario you described above is interesting BUT I would have to come up with my own designs, and I'm no designer, that's why reselling I think is the way to go. I have no idea what Pro World is about, and remember, in the Caribbean here, anything in the US I multiple by ten to get it here, so cheaper the better (for now). Thanks again.
Sorry if I confused you. Pro World is one of the companies that I buy my heat transfers from. They have a bunch of designs allready to go and you just order what you need. All you need is a heat press (that irons the designs on to the shirt)at least a 15"x15" which sells for about $500 and you are ready to go.You dont have to design anything. You can also buy transfer paper and print your on design from an inkjet printer and press those on.You can buy royalty free clip art from an office supply store and use those designs to do custom shirts! You can charge extra for that! Google Pro World or Boo-z ,I think these may help. They sell heat presses also.
Found Pro World but Yikes, $500 for an iron? Can't I use my normal iron? :P
This seems like too much, I mean, reselling shirts is cool and all with minimum incestment I guess, but then again, if I do this, I can get the paper and do my own designs. But damn, you NEED that iron?
Yea you can use a regular iron but it will take a lot longer. I would compare it to starting a lawn service with a push mower instead of a riding mower. This is cool if you are only doing a couple of shirts a day but I usually press about 25-50 shirts per day and a household iron cant handle that!
Whew, well this is out of the question for now I guess, though I guess I can get some of the stuff to do my own personal stuff. What about my intial plan, on buying and reselling?
The above comment was overly negative of me, but you will need to get to the point of investing that kind of money sooner rather than later to get anywhere. Reselling means you'll need to have money tied up in inventory. You could start small (buy ten shirts and sell them at a local market) and re-invest profits. But you might be better off saving or doing something else on the side to earn money until you have a small amount of capital to invest into the idea.
How would you make a profit selling threadless shirts, given your customers can just order them over the internet themselves? Threadless are not obscure.
