I've went to a local popular store, and the owner looked at some of my designs online and he liked them. He asked me if I could print a few and bring them in so he can see them. Which isn't the problem, The problem is I want to look sort of professional about this. So I don't want to have to ask him, How's this work do you buy them first, or do I give you a percentage.. How does these types of things normally work?
That didn't really help me at all, I knew how I wanted them priced, I'm asking if the stores buy the shirts from me first, or do I give them a percentage of what sales that I supply them with to have in the shop?
The thread does answer your basic questions.
Most people sell their shirts directly to the store, the store will then markup the shirts to cover their cost and still make a profit as well.
When you talk about percentage that makes it seem like you are going to a consignment shop.
You have to figure out a price that makes you money but will not be so much that the store will not purchase because it will make their price to high to sell to a customer.

YOU decide the conditions. If you think the store will buy them from you, then sell them. If you think they'll be hesitant or worried the products won't sell, but you're eager to put it in, then be on cosignment with them. You really determine what you are most and the store are most comfortable with.
