Default Your Packaging For Retailers?

In reading the praises of Oddica's impressive packaging of their tees for individual orders, I'd like to ask a couple of questions to those of you who sell to retailers:
  • How do you package your bulk apparel, whether you deliver in person or have it shipped to the retailer?
  • Do you think that it matters or not of your packaging presentation for bulk orders like it would for individual, consumer orders?
I'm all eyes...Thanks.

I just make sure everything's neatly folded and sorted. I ship UPS, and include a letter/packing slip and a ton of 1" buttons to give away to customers (I know at least a few shops I've worked with have enjoyed these and request them regularly). I have thought of doing something like printing on the side of the box, but I don't think it's a real issue with retailers. I think the main issue is delivering quality product in a timely fashion.

The buyers will ask you how you pre-pack your garments. I usually ask them. They like them polybagged neatly folded with the label and bar code sticker on the front and there are others that don't want them polybagged but just want them folded with barcodes on the hangtags.

Thanks all for your input on this...I was reading some older threads about hangtags/labels.

Does anyone suggest making hangtags, barcodes and poly bag packaging a common practice for all products sold to avoid inconsistencies and remain efficient in getting the product out as quickly as possible? I can easily see one retailer wanting the products packaged or treated one way, another a different way.

Perhaps for some wholesalers, the larger the contract, the more you're willing to customize?

I will need to read more on barcoding, as I believe I saw a thread stating you can't just put any barcode on a product. There's a method to it.

The 2nd and 3rd links go directly to the first post mentioning UPCs/barcodes.
