Hi Gail, hope you´revfeeling better now!

Look, I´ve never been to Pool, but I´m willing to atend to it next August.
Perhaps you could let me know what you think about them, how things roll during the show, how profitable it is at the end, etc.

I have a tremendous disadvantage: I live in Brasil, so I must check every tiny detail before I decide which show to attend, that´s why I´m asking you this...

Well, hope I can be useful to you somehow.
Take care
Heitor

I didn't see how much a Project booth was, but the Pool booth start at $4000. thats a lot of moolah to throw down. I also went to the site and started looking at some of the merchandise that people will be showing. Frankly, a lot of of it subpar and I have to wonder if it sells just because the company is at Pool showing it off to the people in the industry who actually buy in bulk. In that case, a decent line and $4000 could make you a very rich person. Comments?

Wow, $4000 a booth. That IS a lot of money. But hey, you're right, if the buyers want to buy in bulk, I really think you'll be able to make that money back.
Hmm...I'm actually interested in going this year. Is anyone else planning to go as well?

I am. Wonder if sharing a booth is OK? Prooooooobably not...
Any ideas on decreasing booth cost?
I need an English/Portuguese interpreter too. OK, extremely tough, I know.

Hmm, I'm curious too. Anything that will lower costs for this event would be great.

Heitor,

Will this be your first time going to Pool? I will be a newbie to all this, and any tips would be awesome.

Sorry, 100% newbie myself too.
Other users (apparently Gail) are deeply more experienced.
Im just wandering around seeking for alternative ways to turn costs lower.
Just thinking of 4,000 for a booth makes me freeze....
Well, nothing official yet. Pool hasnt answered me yet.

Couple of questions here- I am planning on going to the early Pool and Project shows in Las Vegas in 2008. I am going to get ideas of what is out there and compare it to the line I will be introducing at the summer 2008 Las Vegas shows. So, by being a clothing line instead of a buyer or manufacturer, is it difficult for myself and business partner to get admission for both shows? Can we get in because we are a legit business that will be at the later shows? Any help with this is appreciated. I have to start now with arranging this, I don't want to miss out on my opportunity. Thanks to all who reply!!

The requirement for me when I attended magic was to submit a copy of my business card, resale license, Ein # 0r tax ID. if you have all these items you should have no problem. ( All submitted via fax)

One thing was brought up here on the forums the other day that any of you folks considering setting up at Pool or Project should keep in mind. Alot of buyers don't actually sign on with new vendors AT the show, but go to connect with current clients and companies they are familiar with. They will however, make notes of anything that grabs their attention, and place calls on new companies after they arrive back home. There is alot to see and do at the shows, and many buyers just don't believe they have the time to speak in depth with every vendor, but will take the time to connect later on.

So you might not actually make your 4k back at the show, but if you are patient, it WILL most likely pay off. The true value of these shows is to build awareness and convey that you are a serious competitor in the market, and that you are here to stay. If you are willing to show for two years in a row, you will certainly draw attention in the eyes of the buyers.

Over the course of this year, you can also help reinforce awareness of your brand, and might even contact some of the companies that might be sending buyers to the show. This way, you might get a bit more traffic to your stand, but don't expect to sign alot of contracts on the floor. Any contacts you do make however, are likely to prove very valuable.

If you are serious of building a brand that will stand the test of time, 4,000.00 is actually not too much to ask. You'll return the value to your company in multitudes.

And you never know, you might find a couple VERY large accounts while you are there.
