Yes, the situation re sourcing name-brand American blanks in Australia is dire. You will note that this has been discussed frequently if you do a search of this topic on the forum.
I have now pretty extensively researched the possibility of ordering from US wholesalers/suppliers and, like you, have found that very few are willing to ship internationally (except to US Forces bases). However, I have found two that will: Dollarshirts and Sanmar.
The former charges exhorbitant shipping for small orders, making it very expensive if you are intending to retail the Ts with your designs on them. They steadfastly ignored several queries I emailed them after a curt response to an initial email. I would not recommend them, although you may find others in Australia who disagree.
Sanmar, on the other hand, I have found to be courteous and efficient (accolades to Cathy Hayes), and their prices are pretty fair. They have a great variety of brands, including Anvil, although I am not sure if they have the specific style you are after (very likely they have, though - they seem to have almost everything).
They charge a small shipping/handling fee and ask you to choose your own shipper, and if you use USPS Parcel Post, it works out about as cheap as you'll get from the US - BUT, takes 6-8 weeks to get to Oz. If time is a problem, use USPS Air freight: more expensive, but the goods will arrive within a week or so.
Another option: have a US screenprinter print your designs and source your blanks. I can personally highly recommend Circle R Printing if you feel you'd like to explore this option.
