Default Best Selling Styles??

What in your opinion are the best selling retail styles right now?
Men and Women?
I'm making decisions on what to present for my first line ... Keep in mind - I live in Dallas, so I'll need a great line of tanks for women -

I'm looking at doing several things - either going with a cut and sew piece and having it all done in-house with one source (shirts, wash finishes, embroidery, printing, labeling etc...) - or purchasing my own cut and sew (or maybe blanks) and then farming out the other items locally...

I just want to get a feel for what the best "cuts" are on the market and do short sleeve shirts sell better than tanks when presenting to a retailer etc...

Would you suggest some cut that totally sets you a part - or go with what is currently selling now -

wooh! Lots of questions - but if I'm going to spend thousands upfront - I really want to make sure I have a good concensus from the group before making my decisions
Thanks everyone!!

What is your target market? The specific popular styles vary from market to market.

Well Yes, telling my market would probably have been a good idea! Sorry! LOL!

I am designing high end market - similar to Monarchy, Obey, Affliction-

You know the look....distressed, grinded collars, embroidery, renassaince looking graphics, enzyme washed, rhinestone transfers sometimes on the ladies lines...etc..

Plan on around 9-12 per shirt (including marketing costs) and wholesale 25, retail 50 -

Thanks!

9-12 what per shirt? Dollars? Is that with printing as well? If you're planning on cut and sew, you can certainly lower your numbers, but did you realize that you will more than likely have to order in the thousands? Just curious.

European cuts are very popular right now.

Yes - Dollars, with printing... I am planning on cut and sew, but right now - I can't find anyone with numbers lower than that - so if you have a source to help me, that would be great! I'm looking at 1000 per run of shirts.

Thanks!
You can PM me if you have any resources...no one seems to have the cuts/finishes I am wanting...

Unfortunately, the minimums that I have seen aren't less than 5,000 pieces. Just out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to start this way?

I just simply have a laundry list of things I want on my shirts....and can't find anything pre-made blank that has that list...

distressed finish (enzyme wash, burn out, etc)
grinded collars and hems
inside out contracting stitching
screen printing over seams (some designs)
2-3 color distressed screenprinting on front
2 screenprinting on back along collar line with embroidery
some rhinestone finishing on the ladies line

so - any thoughts? Keep in mind...my designs etc...are along the lines of Monarcy, Affliction etc...

Wow, that is quite the list! You're right, I haven't seen a brand of blanks that meets that entire criteria. My best suggestion would be to sign up with multiple wholesalers and get there catalogs and see what they do have that meets your needs. You'll probably find one with this company, 2 with this one, etc and be able to put your brand together a few pieces at a time instead of by the thousands. Sanmar does cut and sew, so another suggestion would be to call and see what they offer. If they don't offer everything that you want, talk to them about the industry and the different processes and see who they might recommend. This will also give you a better understanding of the cut and sew process and the costs involved.

Thanks Tim! Sanmar is here in Dallas - so that would be a great solution!
