I have recently purchase a GP 604 and it will be delivered at the end of the week. The salesman really didnt have any recommended min. requirements for the system running it. He, of course, said the rip software is not Vista compatible and must have a firewire port to connect with. I was wondering about memory mostly, and if there was a min. cpu speed.
Thanks in advance.
Hello Mimaki GP-604 Users.
We a small handful of users, we should communicate.
How does everyone feel about the switch from the TP2 inks into the TP3 inks...???
Still need 2 hits to get a vibrant colors
They Jacked up the Ink Prices & Lowered the Volume!
Like "kissing your sister" & paying for it!!
I have had my machine GP604 for almost 3 years and really like it, have had very few issues.
I still do 2 hits to get best results.
I found that the new inks give me much better nozzle checks and do less head cleanings.
I didn't notice that the new carts were only 210 cc, hmm, still alot cheaper than Brother inks though.
I would be happy to converse with anyone about issues, techniques or whatever.
If some would like to set up a blog or website with the focus on the 604, you can count me in.
I think the 604 is the best machine out there for the money and don't think they do a good enough job of marketing it.
By the way there is a bulk system available for them, at least there was for the old inks.
I am a Mimaki owner and do not work for or sell them.
Greg

hey greg, same here. i'm really happy with my decision on this printer, going 3 years now. i haven't switched to the new inks yet, but i hope it's better as they claimed. have you used the bulk ink system before you switched to the tp3 inks? i just had an issue today with my printer, the yellow and magenta is not printing when i ran a test. hope this is not something serious. anything you can suggest?

I did not have the bulk system, I find that the new inks require less head cleanings to get good nozzle checks.
If you did more than 3 cleanings without success, I would try putting a solution of Simple Green and Distilled Water (3 parts water to one part Simple Green).
One or two drops in each capping station let it sit for a half hour or hour and then do a cleaning, see if that works for you.
Do you periodically do the disway wash?
I can let you know what that is if you don't already know.

thanks greg. i tried the simple green solution per your suggestion, still does not work. seems to be a clog on the inkjet tube itself connecting to the pump. yes, i did a disway wash and fillup color. i just called a tech to check it out, he will be here tomorrow.
It is a pain to take apart and get the clogs out of the lines but not too hard to do yourself if you are handy, a little intimidating at first but a lot cheaper than paying for a service call, your tech may be closer than mine.
The trickiest part is getting the lines back into the drain hole if they come out.
A couple times a week I do the disway wash and run about 20 cc of SG and water through each color, it helps keep the lines from clogging with dried ink.

yeah, your right greg. i did not take the risk this time, although i made an attempt, but when i saw the inkjet tube lines, i just backed off, not really sure what to do. anyway, the tech came by and fixed it. he just did what you just mentioned to do, but kind of really intimidating as you said. thank you. really great to have you around the forum.
