Default ErgoSoft RIP

Was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with this software. I am told is supports the 604 D, in both color AND discharge modes.

I had spoken with a rep from Wasatch about a year ago, they support the machine in color mode, but not discharge. Their RIP runs about 3K, I believe Ergo's is about half that. Hope to speak to the rep today to find out more..

I believe Ergo is a swiss company, it appears so on their site. Native language is German, normally I'd shy away from this, but I've been dealing with RasterLink and it's bad japanese translations for so long that I'm not so intimidated by it anymore...

Dan,

ErgoSoft has a U.S. based operation as well. Here is a link to the U.S. office - ErgoSoft U.S. - High Fidelity RIP Software - Contact - Index. I am not familiar with their RIP for the Mimaki 604D printer, but I am sure they can provide you the info you are looking for. Hope this helps.

Mark

Dan, may I ask why are you looking to replace your RasterLink Rip with the ErgoSoft Rip?

I guess the best thing I can say about RasterLink is that it makes the machine work. otherwise, it leaves a lot to be desired. Ergosoft allows you to profile your machine is both color and color/discharge modes, from what I understand. also provides linearization for machine. Additionally, I do fine art printing on an epson 9600, and this RIP will work with the epson also.

I see, thanks Dan. I also saw the classified post, what's the real score?

the 'real score' is that I'm getting myself out of the t-shirt business. myriad of reasons, biggest one being a client that defaulted on a very large group of invoices. was planning to add the RIP and soldier on, but the numbers just aren't adding up right now. I suppose I'm not the only one having difficulties in this economy. it's also very expensive to rent space in this part of the world..
