Mike,

What issues do you have with the machine?
Where are you located?

How wide is your heatpress? This place has great prices on parchment, and large sheets Matfer - 320201 Exopap. Not sure if the ones you are finding are smaller then this, hope this helps

Can you tell us the exact process of your pretreatment? We may be able to help if we know exactly what you are doing.

I have been looking into the IDot myself and have spoke to two people who have them, One gave it not so good reviews but also mentioned he had printed alot of shirts on it so not sure how useful the review was.

Then I spoke to someone else who gave it rave reviews, he said the pretreatment had alot to do with the final outcome, and once they got that down things have went alot smoother, I personally was impressed with the unit, just still a little worried about how fast it will turn a profit, We have a customer who is looking to buy it and place it in our shop and we just cover expenses above and beyond the payment and insurance and do his work and give him cut on jobs.

Which in that case it will be a win win for us..

I have an idot and I cannot recommend it.

It has countless errors, the support is atrocious, and the prints do not last.

Shirts with a white under fall apart in the wash, shirts without a white under fade in the wash.

I have followed all of the instructions that M&R has given me. I have asked them time and time again about my problems and I get extremely poor responses if I even get one.

I wish I could return my iDot.

if they all use the same kind of Dupont inks i do not see why the idot's would fade. do you think it may have to do with pretreatment not being done correctly?

about the poor customer service, that is terrible, i have been considering an idot myself, actully i have an appointment tomorrow with a rep to test drive one. but the customer service i m very concerned about.

besides the ink problem, what other problems have you encountered ?

The pretreatment is only for the white under. The shirts with white unders don't fade, the ink actually falls off the shirt in chunks after you wash it. The shirts without white unders fade in very few wash cycles.

The iDot has had many technical problems, due to physical parts, and poor programming. M&R expects you, the customer, to do all of the work when something needs to be repaired. Its as if you bought a new car with a bad drive shaft and you were expected to replace it by yourself with only a pdf to guide you.

also i would like to take a minute to promote a new thread

called: SWF Dtg Viper VS. M&R iDot

you are all invited to contribute your input as i did not find any threads out there comparing these machines side by side and are very interested in obtaining one of the two. thank you in advance for sharing your hard earned knowledge. i ll be sure to post my input after my meeting with the m&r rep

I have an i-dot and i love it. I have had it for about five months and I have excellent prints. The tech support I receive has been great. You could not ask for more. i have followed their directions and have great results on lights and darks. You do have to follow the maintenace sugested which is not very difficult. i am very pleased.

I have just been introduced to the world of printing t-shirts. I've been working with the iDot for the last two and a half weeks and obviously have had many questions for someone who has not known anything about DTG printing. Last week I ran into a huge problem (a problem caused me not paying attention) and the M&R customer service rep emailed me a PDF with exact instructions and pictures pointing out every action needed to take to fix the problem. As it was late in the day he was heading out of the office so he included his cell number and told me to call him if I ran into any problems. Horrible customer service? I think not!

I took apart the head and replaced the dampers using one screw driver. It was so easy, even a ninja could do it! It's a printer, not a rocket ship. If you don't know how to use a screw driver and follow simple simple directions, you should probably stick to sewing on shirts.

I haven't mastered DTG printing with the right pretreatment and curing procedures but I can tell you, figuring out the maintnence is pretty simple on this machine and the customer service has been nothing but help.

I have now had my iDot for 1year and 4 months. It rocks. It just prints great. I have had excellent customer service on any issues but most of the issues were from me. I am thankful to have purchased an iDot.

Help please, we recently purchased the machine and printed/ mastered the guide on keeping the machine cleaned and running great but we ran into a problem. We cant figure out where or how we can design the right pictures so the machine prints onto the shirt with stunning detail/shadowing like it did when we first tested it. Do the designs have to be created through some program? Or am i just not looking in the right place for pictures? I'm very confused and slowly getting burnt out on this machine. It has the potential to be something big but this small problem is holding us back. I will constantly check this forum for feedback (Seeing as this is my last option) If i need a program please list what i need to create designs for the machine. Thanks, reply soon!

I love the output of the IDOT but too many people have complained of issues. go to www.mrprint.com and go to forums.
