Default Peeling Opaque Transfers

I'm using Neenah Laser1 Opaque transfers, but I've had the same problem with inkjet opaque transfers. Before pressing, I need to peel the paper backing off. I always spend too much time and wind up messing up the corners until I get it to peel. Is there a trick to a clean peel??

Tear a small area of the backing to get started. Be careful not to tear the opaque in the process. Start peeling from there.

Thank you. Tear with my fingers? I keep trying with an Exacto knife and mangle the corner.

Yes with you finger. The instruction said in step 5 to tear in the corner. Do it not exactly in the corner so that you don't mangle it.

Here is the instruction: http://www.neenah.com/technical/pdf/...E9753P0807.pdf

I press jet opaque at 350 for 6 seconds. Dwell time 33 seconds is way too long. The adhesive probably is over cooked pressing that long at 375F. Also if you are using 50/50 the dye of the shirt will turn to gas and sublimate through the opaque at the setting that you have. Try lowering the dwell time. To avoid the dye from the shirt from sublimating cut the dwell time in half. Let the transfer cool down then press it again with the second half. Too much heat and dwell time will also cause the transfer to loss its opacity.

No Exacto. Just make a small 1/4" tear into the liner using your fingers. Peel away liner from there.
