xerox 6110 printer and some transfer paper got stuck in the printer and have wrapped round the roller and is stuck solid on to it....some smoke came out of the printer as it is sticky side around the roller...
Let it cool down, see if you can access the roller, you might need to remove a cover.
Assume that the printer is dead, therefore anything you do can only improve the situation.
If you can get the roller out you can try removing the paper by force but be careful that you don't damage the surface. Try a bit of meths or IPA to soften the paper adhesive.
Be patient.
I just broke the damn thing trying to get the roller out
RIGHT....kind of messing things up but hey..
managed to get the paper unstuck off the roller, but the roller is a little cut up, etc..may work in the end i dont know..
how ever i am having problems getting the fuser unit back together....
i have the fuser unit and these other 2 parts, dont know how they connect to the unit at all, cant work it out. i also have a spring and a few screws for some messed up reason. please help.
Hi Ash,
I don't think you're cut out to be a technician, Just unplug your machine and call in a real technician before you do more damage.
cheers.
a proper technitian is bound to mug me for loads £ to fix it. in truth i need a new phaser unit i'd say and i think they are more exp than the printer.
do u think xerox will replace for free? had the printer about 9 weeks ,
Good chance. Do NOT tell them how you fubared the unit up. I had a oki fuser I fubared getting a transfer off the fuser. I used a exacto knife with a new blade. Cut right into the fuser roller or whatever its called.
I called oki, told them I had issues and we went through the support steps. They determined my fuser was bad and since under warranty sent me a new one.
Oh, and as far as fraudulently claiming something on warranty goes - it's worth pointing out that every single printer a customer breaks and manages to claim back anyway, is lost profit for the manufacturer. Which they make up by putting their prices up. Which means every single person who doesn't make stupid mistakes ends up subsidising those who do.
In other words, lying to get your warranty covered is no different to insurance fraud.
My advice would be to tell the truth. If they want to cover it anyway, good for you. If they don't, good for us.

Oh B.S ! How many times you opened a brand new in the box something or rather and it was broken and you had to drive back at YOUR gas cost. YOUR time COST ?!! Did you get that money back HELL NO. Did that company reimburse you for your out of pocket cost. NO. So don't cry the fricken thats fraud bs. Going through my oki manual no were did I find it saying NOT to use a particluar type of paper so why would it be fraud. ? Why wouldn't it be covered.
Whats the address to your glass house cuz I like to have a look in.

Don't be passive aggressive, if you want to call me out, call me out by name. I have a lot of experience with Xerox machines and a little bit with running transfer paper through them. Xerox techs encounter this problem often, they know how it works and what causes it. In every case I'm aware of, it is caused by using inkjet paper in a laser printer. Apparently in your case it was some fluke that the transfer paper just happened to melt to the fuser roller. BTW, Xpres is a brand name and not a type of paper. I hope for your sake they cover it under warranty because the fuser rollers in the Xerox machines I've used started at $600 each and went up from there.
