Default silicon vs teflon

after reading many posts about using teflon and silicon, I'm still confused as to when to use each. I understand that teflon is used to protect the platen, but sometimes I see that it is also used as finishing touch, or is that really what the silicon is for?

Thanks

Deborah

I use on or the other to cover the transfer before I press. I do notice that the teflon works better, though.

I prefer the teflon just because it will last forever. Silicone sheets must be thrown away after a few presses.

Thanks for the info. Now is there any special kind of teflon sheet? Where to buy? they seem kind of expensive on the heat press sites, are there other options? Not that I don't want to support the heat press sites but can teflon sheeting be obtained from other sources?

Thanks again!

Deborah

Hi Deborah, if you just google "teflon sheets'' suppliers will come up. You can add "heat press teflon sheets" if the return is too wide, but I've done that search (teflon sheets) and it's effective.
