It is not hot enough. Set the media weight to Ultraheavy. You can do that in the printer dirver or in the printer itself. Another one is media type to card stock. It can only be set in the printer end. Check your user manual fo setting the two parameters.

I'm still having trouble...I've changed the media to ultra heavy and the media of the printer to card stock.... it's still doing the same thing.. Is it posisable to check the temp....or maybe the printer is not hot enough yet......I'm very confused...

Layla, check with the paper supplier, there are papers for lasers that use fuser oil and those that do not use fuser oil. That may be part of the problem, I'm really not certain. You can check the Okidata site to see which style your printer is and then find out about the paper.

To warm up your printer, simply run a few pages through using regular paper, I always print full pages in black, at least 2 or 3, of text/invoices/packing slips, whatever, and this will heat up the unit for you.

If your printer has a "sleep" mode, see if you can disable that as well. It will cool down when not in use. Hope some of that helps!

Sorry I forgot to mention that fuser temp takes a while stabilize even though it says it is ready to print does print execution. Make sure that fuser is clean buy printing sheets from file with a character in it until the papers come out clean. To do this create a file in notepad, wordpad or word that has a space character in it so that you don't waste toner. Print the file 5 to 10 times to get the temp. stabilized. Then print your Laser 1 opaque.

Here is a link that the member figured out a solution: Oki 5500N Figured Out !!!!
