I am new to laser printing and I just bought some laser paper and we have an OKIc5150. I printed one and it came out fine. The second came out with I guess bits of the film from the top of the paper all hanging like hair or something. I am guessing heat did it or maybe there is a setting I did not have set. I have found some posts about changing the printer menu settings, but I was not sure if that will fix this issue. Also could it be that I put the paper in the drawer instead of the front feed? Any help with some basics on laser printing would be appreciated. Thx!

sounds like the toner did not completely fuse to the transfer paper. Try and change the "paper type" settings, something like "Heavy1", "heavy2" on our printers (not sure if it's the same for OKIs). Hopefully, some actual OKI users will come in and reply.
Make sure you run few blank papers, until there is no more smear or gunk on the papers, using a file with space character in it so that you do not waste toner. This will clean the fuser. Depending on the laser transfer you have, some takes medium or heavy media weight and some requires Ultra Heavy media weight. I own an Oki C5200Ne. The papers I use requires Ultra Heavy and medium media weight. I use multipurpose tray and rear tray exit. That way the paper will have a straight path. Prior to printing transfer I preheat the fuser by printing 5 or more of blank standard papers depending on the brand of transfer. I use the file I mentioned above to do that. You can change the media weight and multipurpose tray in the printer driver. BTW when Ultra Heavy media weight is selected the driver will automatically select the multipurpose tray.
You did not mention the brand you are using. It will help to know what you have.
Send me a PM if you need more help.
Good luck.

thanks Luis. What's this file with "space character" like?
It is file has a space character. Create a txt or document file. Press the space bar and save it. Carriage return is optional. The is just something that the printer needs to print with. I keep mine in the desktop so I do not have to search for it.

You got experience in which setting to avoid jamming at fuser while assuring of quality print-out? which transfer paper would you recommend for OKi ?(on for light and dark)
i have tried different setting and the more heavy or untra heavy, or high quality, it more stuck ( i use oil-coated paper, even Dura Cotton HT doesn't help). Now i almost stay on heavy weight + normal + toner saving + run recycle maintenance + 100% K tone, but still not so happy. I waste paper alot due to jam.

What paper are you using, TH? Have you tried Neenah's Techniprint and Forever's Classic Universal?

Iam using OkiC5600n. I tried Dura Cotton HT, and not yet tried Neenah's Techniprint and Forever's Classic Universal.
Do those best run on Oki laser printer? are they oil or non-oil coated?

You need to use medium media setting for Duracotton HT. Also warm up the fuser by printing 5 to 10 blank standard printer sheets with a text file that contains a space character(so as not to waste toner) and feed the paper in multi purpose tray. Preferrably use exit tray.

Thanks Luis,
Could you please advise which is optimal setting for Dura Cotton?
For running blank sheet, i do everytime before/ after and even during printing process, but still get stuck very often. Do you think that's due to transfer paper?

Not sure with your model. Another member who has problem is AustinJeff that claimed that he lets the fuser cool down, while printing multiple copies, when it gets too hot for the transfer paper. Send him a PM maybe he can give the optimum settings.
