Default Kornit Print Peeling

Hi,

I have a kornit print that has started to peel after the 4th wash dry cycle.
It's been washed in an automatic washer in warm water and dried in a household dryer on medium heat. The dryer only has a medium dry heat cycle and a cold air cycle.

Any knowledgeable input is appreciated.
Thanks

I would say either one of two things happened here. Either the heat was not hot enough and it did not cure properly, or the pretreatment did not spray right on the Kornit. Those would be my two guess's as to why it is peeling.

Are you using a 931 or a 932?
It looks like the overlap on the fixation spray is not uniform across the garment. The area that looks like peeling, has a lack of fixation applied.
Auto spray a gray shirt (shows up best on a gray shirt) and see if the spray pattern is unform across the shirt. If there are gaps between the passes of fixation call Kornit USA at 888-456-7648 and a technician can assist you.
Hope this helps.

I remember that problem.... Used to happen on the 932 all the time, because the fixation spray nozzle was complete bunk. They really should consider changing that particular setup... The 931 was a lot better, because it used multiple nozzles to spray the fixation, rather than relying on one to spray multiple passes. The problem with that; any little nozzle clog, and you'll have areas of weak spray:

With enough white ink, you can actually cover up this problem, a bit (as we had to do for quite some time), but there are still areas of poor pretreatment, even if you don't immediately see them. These could become problem areas when the shirts are washed multiple times:

But hey, at least your spray is making it on the shirts! That is a good start.

What is your spray setting? I had the same problem on some shirts.. i found that we were not using enough heat on the dryer. Also try going up a little on your spray settings. about 5 or 10.. This might help also.

It seems that the problem has been solved. I'll report if there is any peeling on the reprints.
