Kornit Print Samples, Videos and Related Information
Instead of spending days and days discussing why so many people seem to dislike the Kornit, I decided I would spend the next few days posting pictures of particularly cool designs that we are printing, as we print them. I have instructed my Office Manager to pull anything that she deems "cool". Watch for images to be popping up over the next few days.
I am also going to record a "start to finish" video of the print process, including the actual RIPPING of the artwork. Hopefully, this will help people who are on the fence to make a more informed decision. Here is the question: KNOWING how complicated the machine is, and KNOWING what a pain it can be to work with a lot of the time... Is it worth it to YOU to be able to get results like this, at less than $1 per print in ink?

Very nice, Justin!
... and thanks for a more positive thread. The endless rants and debates over DTG machines are tiresome to me, and I'd rather see more of the things successful DTG owners are doing in the biz.
Re: Kornit Print Samples, Videos and Related Information
Nope. I do not personally print, any more. All of these prints were pulled out of our regular production line, they were not test prints or anything of that nature. My employees push the buttons, the shirt goes through the dryer, my shipping people catch it, like it, send it to my desk, I take a picture and post it here. I have NO idea how long each individual design takes to print. However, I am on record time and time and time again as having said that my Kornit, at the CURRENT print settings, prints between 20-25 dark garments per hour.
I haven't seen a reply to my e-mail, yet. Did you get it?
Re: Kornit Print Samples, Videos and Related Information
haha. Well, I wouldn't go THAT far...
So that everyone is clear - I am NOT advocating that the machine is problem free, nor am I saying it is always consistent. I have boxes of misprints to back that up......
I suppose my main purpose in this thread, is to show people that, with a little effort, you CAN produce some damn good looking prints on a regular basis. You have to really get to know your machine, and you need to be prepared to trouble shoot on your OWN, without relying too heavily on a tech.
Just last night, I was up until 5am experimenting with the Kornit. This time, I am working on adjusting the fixation spray to get smoother, more consistent results, because I finally dialed in the perfect vacuum settings for the ink in the heads. This means, I get a perfect nozzle test pattern, then a minute goes by, I get another perfect nozzle test, then 4 minutes goes by just sitting, then another perfect nozzle test, then I am happy. If I see clogs within these small windows, I know my vacuum settings probably need adjusting. After I got perfect nozzle tests, the white layer was still showing some annoying banding. I noticed it was happening where the fixation did NOT overlap when it sprayed down, so I have been working to make the fixation more reliable. It will make a HUGE difference in our misprint rates.

These samples are more than meets the eye...
Still wet, but WOW! I used this image to do a LOT of testing last night. A few beers, many hours and lots of downloaded iPhone applications later, and this is the result:
