Well, I finally got the new white ink samples from Kornit I have been waiting on. I met with a rep from Israel a few weeks ago, and she told me all about their new white ink. I was skeptical, as I had in my possession a dark shirt sample from Dan Salgado that looked fantastic - BETTER than my Kornit samples! I was on the verge of getting back into the DuPont ink scene. HOWEVER - yesterday a FedEx package showed up at my door and I was knocked off my feet with what I found inside. Two black shirts, printed with the new white ink for the Kornit, that were better than anything I have ever seen before.
They are at LEAST, bare minimum, as good as the DuPont white ink, if not BETTER. I have tried to take a few quick pictures before I let a local Kornit rep borrow them, but you know how cameras are. I could not get it to truly represent the vibrancy and opacity of what was sitting in front of me. Here is my best effort:
The yield is greater with this white ink, so less is used, giving it a softer hand and a smoother feel. NO pitting, pilling, or other negative effects. And it is WHITE. The eagle print is the only one I have ever seen that has directly rivaled screen printing in every way. Another thing about this white ink - I stretched the hell out of the shirt and NO CRACKING! I should have this ink in my shop sometime late next week......
Ha Ha, Glad to hear the Kornit is moving forward but Justin I have something to challenge that also, but at the moment I can say nothing more and I cannot post any pictures BUT it will be just as good or an improvement for us, now you do not list a price of your ink so I cannot compare but what I am talking about is for epson based printers and quite an improvement
Amazing how we keep moving on "HAPPY PRINTING"

That is great, Dan! I wonder what it is... Hmmm... It might be something I have already heard about, if it is indeed what I am thinking. Anyhow, thank you for the info on white ink printing the other day. I still have not ruled out using DuPont white in a smaller machine, especially with all the new improvements right around the bend! Pretreatment machines, better white ink, consistent maintenance procedures... It gets better all the time. As you know first hand, I was ready to move forward with an array of Epson based printers using DuPont ink because of the frustrations I was having, but after solving almost all my issues, and NOW after seeing the new white ink from Kornit, I am THRILLED. AND I don't have to raise my ContractDTG prices.
Wow Justin, that looks really good. I can't wait to see what you come up with for my samples. I'm getting really tired of the PVC+Screen BS and anxious to see what you can do for me. -- Cheers, Paul
Hey there Paul! Yeah your samples are done, I just have to send them out. lol. I will call you tomorrow and chat with you a bit, cool? The designs were neat!
Of course, now that I have seen the NEW ink, I WANT IT NOW! I will reprint ALL your samples with the new ink and we can compare (when it comes in...).
Hi Justin, sounds great. I've got a short trip out to STL tomorrow for a big b'day bash for the weekend. 4am wakeup, 6am flight... yikes. The only person I know that is usually up at that hour is you when you are printing 24/7.
I am very excited to see the samples and will love to see the new white ink! I have a couple of more designs that are heavy in white that might look awesome too. I will try to work on them this weekend, maybe on the plane.
Great prints!
I can't wait for the new Inks as well. Maybe this is a topic for a different post but I'm curious why Kornit is moving toward water-based inks? Also, Justin you have a Kornit and a Flexi correct? What are the major differences between your water-based Kornit prints and your Flexi prints?
Is the Kornit ink only used in certain machines. I have a Kiosk and am using ink from Coleman & Company right now was not sure if I could switch over and if so where do I find it. Am new to the business so am learning alot of things thanks

The ink used in the Kornit machine are not the right vicosity and will not jet in any Epson based machine.
The smaller dot size and nozzle plate diameters of the Epson head require that the ink vicosity be quite low (around 3-5 cps) the Kornit inks are much higher then this, so they literally end up getting stuck in the printhead.
Very bad thing!
