Default My T-shirts are "Sweating".

I pressed 3 shirts yesterday using opaque transfers, and when I checked on the shirts today, I noticed that all of them were "sweating". Moisture is coming from the designs. Can anyone tell me what's heppening?

Thanks.

Banjo, there was moisture in your shirts before you pressed them. Moisture will cause the transfer not to adherer properly. I have made samples in the summer for foil and they were great, but when we printed them it was winter with high humidity and the foil came off in spots. Pre press your shirts to get the moisture out and you should be ok. Best of luck, John

Did you pre press your shirt for 10-12 seconds to remove the moisture from the shirt? Also remember to not use a teflon sheet when pre pressing. Teflon can trap the moisture. I use uncoated butcher paper when pre pressing my shirts. I purposely kee my office at 40-50% humidity so I always have moisture in my substrates but pre-pressing solves the problem.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I always pre-press the shirts (without teflon). This is actually the first time I experienced this. The transfers are not coming off...they're just sweating.

Banjo, shirts come from all over the world and sit in ships for 3 months or more. What you described moisture was the problem, If you always pre press if you still see steam when done, do again. Other than that it could be the transfer, but I doubt it. John

This is true. I am in the middle of a job right now where I finished the front prints and then the job sat on hangers for a week while I did a rush job. Because I keep a humidity of 40-50% because of my Sublimation machine I am re-pressing these shirts for over 15 seconds before I get no steam. It's a pain since normally you can do backs without re-pressing.

Moisture, Moisture Moisture!! it is usually the culprit. I do Sublimation, Inkjet transfers and Plastisol transfers and it effects them all! The only thing moisture is good for is your print heads

That may not apply to me (I think). I'm actually in the Philippines, and the shirts I use are made here.

I was just surprised to see that the transfer was sweating, but other than that, they're ok.
