I have identically the same question. I too have an 8000-44". Roll paper is available from Coastal Business but I have no idea as to whether this would work without wiping out the print head. However, I do print on all kinds of media (not necessarily Canon brand). Coastal Business said the setting would be for plain paper also.

I'll do a little research on this and see if I can get an answer.

Frank;
Did some checking on this. I talked to my ink supplier for the Canon and to Coastal business about the paper. I got positive responses on both. Coastal says as long as it's pigmented ink it will work fine with plain paper setting. They have roll paper in widths up 36" for both dark and light fabrics. Ink supplier said about 7% of their business was for transfers. They also sell a special yellow for transfers but you can work around that by changing some settings for your yellow. Also use MBK as much as possible for density

Coastal is sending me some sample paper. I'll give it a shot when I get it. Just so you know, I know of an ink source that is wayyyyy cheaper than most places that sell Canon oem ink. Let me know if u want that info.
