Alps MD-5000 is a "discountinued" printer that was done away with way back in late 1990s or early 2000s. The printer prints the "best" t-shirts transfers I've ever seen. I never gave any care instructions because the design held up to washing, bleach, etc.
I still have shirts done way back in 1997 that still look great.
It can NOT do dark transfers. You would have to find an opaque paper that you print on and then cut out. But to my knowledge since the machine prints "using heat" it may just melt opaque paper.
Finding "ribbons, etc." may be a problem so really research and make sure you can find supplies for it. Last i heard the manufacturer had stopped making supplies for it so be sure you are going to be able to get the supplies before investing.
As for your question. No. You can't print silver/gold on transfers for shirts those ribbons are strickly for printing on paper. In order to put it on a transfer it would have to print the foil colors in reverse and the printer doesn't do that.

if yes can i use them on darks?
No. The colors are just like inkjet transparent so you can't print on dark.
Unless you can find "opaque paper" you can print onto and cut the design out. Again, the heat element in the machine may prevent that.

i also wanna know if i can use this tp print on vinyl to make stickers.? i looked at the other posts but couldnt figure out the asnwer. if this is dry ink than i should be able to do dark shirts with regular inkjet transfer paper right? thank you all
I have heard that some people have printed on a certain material other than transfer paper i think it was a type of vinyl.
Your best bet is to visit the alps printer forum on yahoo at
Alps : Alps, OKI & Other Micro-Dry Printers they may be able to answer these questions and tell you if they have found a way to print on dark, etc.
