| Unsuccessful Test Run I jump into making t-shirts for my sons first birthday this weekend. My first test run was Unsuccessful. I bought 50/50 belnd shirts from Michaels Crafts On-sale. I'm using Jet OPaque from best blanks. Printed well on an Epson r220. Cut well on a Roland Camm-1. Pressing went bad! I'm using a mighty press porta 11 x 15. First of all I did a pre-heat for 30 secs at 350. The shirt was so hot it turned a different color (but not burt). It did go back to normal after 5 minutes. I tried pressing the Jet Opaque for 30 seconds with a piece of regular brown Kraft paper on top it stuck to the shirt and the paper. I could not take the paper off. Please help? I guess I need regular silicone sheets. However, is it possible the press is too hot? I set based on the paper instructions. | |

| Re: Unsuccessful Test Run This is information I got from the Neenah website regarding Jet Opaque Transfer Paper.. "Red and dark colored 50/50 blends, polyester and nylon are not recommended because the dye from the shirt may migrate into the transfer. However, transferring may be possible by lowering the temperature to 300° F and a heat press time of 20 seconds. Please test this process prior to production"
You may want to try lowering the temp and yes a teflon sheet would be great to help diffuse some of the heat.

| Re: Unsuccessful Test Run Michael, I use baking parchement paper ( store brand ) for my opaque transfers, works great. What type of inks are you using? The inks could be part of the problem with the sticking. I believe the r 220 uses dye based ink stock. I print with an Epson C88 with pigment inks. Mike | |

Check Colman and Company in Tampa.. they have some really good heat press (precut) parchement paper we can use one piece at least 3-4 times and we bought a box almost 7 months ago. Its costly for the box but its well worth it since they are pre-cut and last longer than the store bought parchement paper.

| Re: Unsuccessful Test Run Carla, the parchment paper was $1.57 for 24' X 15", I still use my teflon sheets, not at at the same time. I bought the parchment for an order after my teflon got damaged in a move. Mike | |
