Default Hoping your experiences can help me...

Hello! I am not a t shirt seller but a wife that is throwing a golf outing for my husbands 40th birthday and would like to make my own designed shirts for the winners and one for my husband.

I went to tshirtsupplies.com and bought the JetWear™ IYA Inkjet Transfer Paper - 8.5" x 11". I believe it is made by Jet Pro

Through reading many of your posts, this sounds like the best one for a novice like me. Any tips?

Thanks a lot for any feed back.

Are the tees white and do you have a heat press?

No, I do not have a press, but the directions said a hot iron works fine.

I was thinking light gray tees, and then a white or light gray golf shirt for my husband.

Do you think that will be okay? I am open to suggestions.

If the transfer paper is for lites it really means whites for best results. The best paper I have used is JPSS with an epson with pigment ink. The ink is very important as well as the paper.

So, white would be best, okay, I can do that. I have a Canon mp610. This is a really good printer. It prints some of things I have designed better than any hp printer we ever had. Do you think the printer I have is okay?

OK...you have 4 dye based inks and a pigment black. I would say this isnt the best ink setup to use for inkjet transfers. You may have washout problems although some forum members say they have used canon printers with JPSS paper.

Thanks, now you have me nervous. Maybe a friend will have a better printer. What type of ink/printer do you feel is best?

and, where do yo stand on this being a black backround with white print? On a white tee?

I have an epson 1400 with heat transfer pigment ink from inkjet carts. I also have an epson c-120 with durabrite pigment ink. I haven t purchased new carts for it yet. The HT pigment inks are wonderful. You will get a nice deep rich black.
