Default Ghosting on polyester fabric

I have done numerous searches on this and all i have found is info on polyester shirts.

Here is my problem: I am printing on to 600 d polyester. I am using artrainium inks and conde paper with a phoenix press. My settings for the press are 65 seconds on med pressure 400 deg.. I have used a teflon sheet and tape.

After i print the transfer i give it 15 minutes to dry. I then tape it down to the press and put the fabric on top followed by the teflon sheet. When i open the press I can clearly see the fabric has shrunk and is leaving a slight ghost. What should i do?

This is my first problem thank you in advance.

We have heard people say this is common with auto pop up presses. the jolt from the auto pop can shift the paper (or shirt) and cause a slight ghosting.

I have had success printing on polyester fabric and napkins:
375-85* for 55 secs. I would try laying the fabric down first on lower platen and using light spray adhesive mist to secure transfer face down.
Cover with teflon or parchment/ med pressure.
With the indirect heat the poly may not shrink as much.
Experiment to make sure you get the full depth of color at reduced time/temp/pressure...I did.

I agree with Clay in part of it. First, try to hold the press down when it opens up to prevent the air suction from occuring when it opens up. Then try to use a low adhesive, repositionable adhesive spray. This will help with keeping the paper moving. There is no real reason for having to put the teflon sheet on top of the paper. Most of the time, when you remove the teflon sheet... it moves the release paper a little bit.

The other thing that you need to look at is the amount of ink your are dropping down based on the paper you are using. There is no reason why you should have to wait to 15 minutes for the print to dry. If so, if you are dropping way too much ink. Try either a different ICC profile or switch to a different type of paper. Dye sub release paper can either by a high release paper or a fast dry paper. You don't really get both options. The high release paper takes longer to dry because it has less of a coating on the paper to absorb the ink. The fast dry papers have a different coating that absorbs the ink, but does not release as much (thus, you see more ink on the paper after you press it).

Hope this helps.
