Hi, i am wondering if anyone can help me out with a problem i am having. After i press my design on my shirt, using JPSS for lights. I notice tiny white specs on my shirt where the design is. (like some of the ink didn't stick) I also notice if i rub my hands across the image more little specs appear.
Can anyone tell me what im doing wrong?
I pre-press for about 5 seconds at 375 degrees and then press the shirt for 30 seconds at the same temp.
Is it 100% cotton? or something near that?
Can you tell us what pressure (not in psi, but light, heavy pressure?)
Did you take any photo of it that you can post?

I've never seen nor heard of that problem before.
Where did you buy the JPSS?
Are you sure your heat press reaches and keeps the desired temperature?
Do you peel hot or cold ? (thou some people use both methods without a problem).
How many times did it happen to you?

Logan... are there "pinholes" showing up? I've heard of that problem here and there. I bet a search on "pinholes JPSS" will bring up a thread or two on it. If I remember right, maybe try to increase the pressure you are using. I think that is what solved it for some others.
Also, if you press a second time with parchment paper over the finished image, it will "smooth" the gritty surface feeling, and maybe those bumps won't be there to chip off. (?). Not sure why it would be doing that to begin with.
Here is a thread with some tips on heat pressing, maybe if you look this over, there might be something else you can add to your current process to help make this go away.
If all else fails, call Mike at T-shirtsupplies.com to let him know what is happening. If there is a problem with the paper, report it to your supplier so they can investigate with the mfg. No paper is immune from batch issues... it's best to report them so they can be solved, and maybe replacement papers sent... but that is between whomever and their suppliers if it comes to that.
I have heard alot about pressing a second time with parchment paper so let me make sure i know what you mean...
So i apply the image and after the image is transfered and the shirt is complete, then i press again? How long do you usually press for when you do this?
Here's what i did...and it turned out much better.
Instead of 30 seconds at 375 degrees i did 25 seconds
I then peeled hot, stretched the shirt, placed it back on the press and pressed it again with parchment paper for 5 seconds. It really turned out better. I think maybe i was giving it too much cooking time in the first place. I will do some more experimenting.
Great, Logan. We're really happy for you that things are improving, and thank you for coming back and sharing what is working for you. That'll help anyone else in the future who has the same problem that you did. That was nice of you.
Good luck, and hope the shirts keep on coming out better!
