We have tested it before and didn't get great results. I am guessing it's because we weren't able to apply even pressure throughout the pressing time.

Hey Eric, I'm not sure if you got your press or not, but I/we have successfully hand ironed heat transfer paper on to shirts.

I will tell you it is not easy to get great results, but it is doable. Once you do a few shirts, tho, you will wish for a press. =)

We have shirts for over a year now. Some are with the press, some my husband did with the hand iron. They are performing identically, but, there was massive amounts of effort spent to achieve these results... so....

Long story short, if you have to apply heat transfer paper with an iron, it can be done, with great effort and alot of labor/time per piece. If you can get/afford a press, it will be alot easier and faster for you.

If you search "hand ironing" you will find posts on how to. Good luck to you.

Those are great instructions, Joe.

I'll add to those instructions, stand on a stool for the best leverage (to really get some back into it - it was key for us). Also, I would recommend do not cold peel unless you plan to re-heat the image to prevent cracking in the first wash. I recommend the second press anyway. =)
