Default JetPro Soft Stretch fake

Hello all, I just received my JPSS from T-shirtSupplies.com and it doesn't have the usual blue grid and text on the back. I'm wondering if it's genuine? Mine just has a line on the back.

Sam

If you bought it from t-shirtsupplies, then it is genuine
I think the mark is up to the vendor, I might be wrong, but you may contact Mike, and let us know what he says.

Hi Marcelo, I'm still new to this biz and have not ordered from t-shirtsupplies.com before so I have no idea. I used Coastal and they're more costly. Its a security issue. I just got a order from a school and don't want to mess up my first order.

I among many others members of the forums have t-shirtsupplies as our favorite JPSS supplier.
But like I said in my previous post, it would be a good idea to contact them and ask them about it.
But all in all I think you are safe

Marcelo, does your JPSS have blue grid on the back or just a black line? Or its different every time?

Mine has blue grid lines, there was a couple from another package that only has some pencil traces , think it came in a sample pack.

Why don't you try one, if after pressed it looks like a JPSS, it stretches like a JPSS and washes like a JPSS, then it is a JPSS

Grab the corner of one of your sheets and see if you can nicely peel the polymer from the paper backer. If you can, it's almost assuredly JPSS.

If it flakes, it absolutely is NOT JPSS.

I just checked my package of JPSS 11x17, unopened until now, and there is no mark on the back.
You should be fine.
But let see what Lou can add.

Hi Chani, I just tried peeling the original JPSS. Not peeling. How do you do it?

Lou has a trick for that. Tear your sheet a little. The backer will tear, and your polymer shouldn't. Either that, or you could take something pointy and see if you can lift a corner with it.

Chani, thats what I did. The backing and polymer tear together! Its frustrating. I know thats what t-shirtsupplies.com says on their website but the product looks different. First, I'm worried that I mess up my first client and secondly got a generic. Just caught me off guard. Maybe I'm overly cautious.

I'm not sure what to say, then. Did you also try to lift a corner? You may poke through it, but it should help you lift it. JPSS is a two-ply media, whereas most papers for lights aren't.

Other than that, I really can't help with this one. Sorry.
