OK I bought my 1400 last night now Iam sitting here thinking should I use up the stock ink then go pigment OR start fresh with the pigment????I do not have a shop just selling to friends and so on.....
Hey Colt, when I got my 1400 and first bulk ink system, the supplier said not to use the ink cartridges that came with the printer before I installed the cis. Everything worked fine after that. Although the Claria inks that come with the printer are great for photos, pigment inks are better for heat transfers. Try www.inkjetcarts.us for the pigment inks. They are cheeper than most ink suppliers and they provide icc profiles with their pigment inks for the 1400.
I would rather not do the ciss do to clogging I would not be printing each day
I have the refillable cartridges from inkjetcarts.com and you had better make a print using a graphic with all the colors every two or three days or you print head(s) will start to clog. I had a devil of a time getting mine cleared up. Otherwise, they work great. Another thing, I use the claria compatabile "dye" based ink because (no scientific proof) of a belief that the pigment inks will settle faster and clog the print head(s) quicker than the dye based ink and the claria compatable inks work great with the JPSS transfer paper. My favorite shirt was with JPSS and it lasted longer than the material in a hanes beefy T.
Slightly... you chose, good choice. The Epson ink can get really expensive, even if you are printing for yourself for own personal use, meaning documents, etc. Compatible is a good choice all around. Great post, Terry!
Great Colt, inkjetcarts has a very good support crew. If they told you that was what you needed, they're right. They are very knowledgeable about their ink products. Good luck with your business!
